Short Histories |
|
Short Histories; All forms of Aiki Jujutsu were grandfathered by Sokaku Takeda (1859-1943) who inherited the Shogun's family (secret) arts from Saigo Tanomo, one of the few survivors of the Boshin Rebellion against the Meiji restoration. The style emphasizes joint manipulations and throwing as well as teaching striking and kicking. Master Takeda was a teacher of Morihei Ueshiba the founder of Aikido and Okuyama Ruho the founder of Hakko Ryu Jujutsu (the foundation of Shiho Karano Ryu). Yong-Sool Choi the founder of Hapkido (Korea) was taken in by Master Takeda as a man servant, when a boy of about 9 or 10 years old, and trained by him for approximately thirty years. We have taken the insights of these different masters as taught in their styles of Jujutsu and re-combined them back into one art. These three branches of Akikijutsu are combined in our system into a well rounded system that applies the theory of the more modern systems with the more complete syllabus of the Korean system. See style for more information. Tai Chi Chuan was originally called shadow boxing and was developed by Wang-Ting Chen in the mid 1600s. Wang-Ting Chen was a government official who commanded the county garrison (soldiers) in Wen County China. It was only a two day walk from the Shaolin Monastery, a traditional source of Chinese martial arts. It was developed from the Chen Family arts, combined with Shaolin techniques, and included not only empty hand sets but weapon sets as well. These included staff, spear saber and sword. More extensive histories on these styles and others will be available in the training manual that will be produced in 2008. |
